Measuring the number of
search engines that have
indexed your site is an easy
way to check the website
growth resulting from your
SEO efforts. The more pages
indexed, the easier it is to get
a ranking for more keywords. Now's the time for any local business to raise its game. Do
you have enough pages around a specific topic area that it would
make sense to create a page describing these related pages (e.g. root
page -> related topic listing -> specific topic)? Do you have hundreds
of different products that need to be classified under multiple
category and subcategory pages? Backlinks are a vote of confidence that someone outside of your own web property trusts your content and believes it has value. Google weighs up each of these links and assigns the linked-to webpage its own value.
Keep Your Company’s Online Content Creation Momentum Going
When selecting keywords, you should also keep the purpose
of your website in mind. Opt for transactional keywords if
the main intention is sales, or informational keywords if your
website aims to provide readers with important information. Linking out is huge.
Don't be a link hoard; you're going to create content, so use it to gain favor with other people. I'll go more into depth below with specific tactics on linking out, but in general, you only have something to gain when you’re linking out. The degree to which search engines rely on evaluating link neighborhoods is not clear, and links from nonrelevant pages are still believed to help the rankings of the target pages. Google gives searchers optimal context around how the result matches their specific query
Googlebot uses sitemaps and databases of links discovered during previous crawls to determine where to go next. Whenever the crawler finds new links on a site, it adds them to the list of pages to visit next. Finding that people from
an unexpected search term are converting more highly than those from other search terms? Then it might be time to switch gear and start trying to rank for that phrase instead! Even though links from Wikipedia are nofollow, there is speculation that Google’s algorithm still does take these links into account, at least to some extent. Many marketers are so focused on building out site hierarchy,
wireframing and design of the site that they lose site of content
development. SEO is a huge part of content development, but
when content becomes an afterthought during web redesign,
and the focus is on getting the new site live ASAP, often times
marketers will put the content together without deliberate thought
to keyword inclusion and smart SEO content strategies.
70% of clicks on search engine results pages are on organic results
Fundamentally, SEO is a marketing discipline, not a technical one meaning that an understanding of basic marketing principles is essential. Nothing is more important to a successful marketing strategy than a strong understanding of the audience you are looking to attract. All sites require inbound links to get recognized by search engines. It’s rare these days that you’ll rank well without at least a few inbound links (although this can happen with the right exact match domain name). SEO, that is ethical and organic, takes serious time. Anyone that claims otherwise is just looking to take your money and run. Gaz Hall, a Freelance SEO Consultant
, commented: "Bing has a partnership with Facebook that allows it to access data on user behavior on Facebook and use that to influence rankings and the presentation of its search results."
