Search traffic is free and you do not need to pay for it when compared to PPC, public relations, and display ads. Ultimately, SEO done correctly can land your website on the first page of the SERP’s (Search Engine Results Pages), and that is always the goal behind SEO. Why? Because most people doing web searches will not look past the first, and sometimes the second, results page when they’ve done a search. So the first page is where you want to be.
Quality pages are what Google wants to rank

Avoid link directories that link to all types of websites
Reaching an international audience is an opportunity that is now available to small and medium businesses in a way that has never been possible historically. Depending on what visitors are searching, you will get the ranking sticking to the same position in some days and fluctuating with a wider range on other days. Think long term rather than short term. Don't Forget: Content and Links

Also, in terms of the text on your web page it is often good to place limits on the length of how much text that you put on a web page. A suggested lower bound would be 300 words and an upper boundary of about 750 words.
