Another factor in determining the value of a link is the way the link is implemented and where it is placed. For example, the text used in the link itself (i.e., the actual text that a user clicks on to go to your web page) is also a strong signal to the search engines. But all too often, when we want to improve our site SEO, we fall prey to “quick-fixes”, just as we do when we’re enticed by fad diets. Do not spam people to build backlinks for yourself. Search engines will also punish you if your name is attached to spamming complaints or if you operate your website anonymously. Longer content is preferred over shorter content since it can cover a topic in greater detail. Data shows that content around 2400 words ranks the best on Google.
Proper HTML and CSS Validation
Keyword research is a critical component of SEO. What search terms do people use when searching for products or services similar to yours? How do those terms match up with your site hierarchy? Using different tags and elements on your page will help search engines understand which parts of the content are
connected to each other, and which are separate. You need to utilise all aspects of digital marketing to form a full SEO strategy. This will put your business on the map and really increase those website hits. To keep search engines from ignoring your site, only use original content. Copying and pasting product descriptions from your merchant’s site may save you time, but it will also lower your site’s page ranking. To assure your page rank remains high, take the time to write your own content. If you don’t have time to write, hire a copywriter to create original content for you.
Don’t let flowery language get in the way of a clear message
If your content is consistently very short and not original the Google algorithm is likely to consider the site low-quality. Backlinks drive traffic to your site, but that is less than half the equation because once traffic has arrived at any given page (most likely a blog post), you want to move it to a landing page to convert it. For people who track their site’s ranking on Google Analytics on a daily basis, it is not surprising to see the ranking move between positions one and six. Many will ask; why is my ranking fluctuating this much? What should I do? You do not have to do anything! An HTML sitemap (as opposed to an XML sitemap) is often mentioned as being useful for SEO. They certainly are if you use them wisely (and especially Bing seems to like them at times), but I like them even more for the fact that users like them a lot.
Pay attention to your monthly click-through rate
If you’re going to change a URL, but you don’t want its link juice to disappear, you can use a 301 redirect. A 301 will pass a majority of the link juice. But the blogging holy grail is just this: A quality blog improves your Google ranking, which will draw leads to your website and encourage them to make purchases. Sites that aren’t optimized for user intent and mobile SEO will fail. According to SEO Consultant, Gaz Hall: "Search engines have made it clear: a vitally important part of the future of search is “rich results.”"
SEO is cheaper than PPC
If you are serious about your website, at least install Google Analytics or any other preferred statistics app. Collect data about your visitors, and find out what the customer journey on your website is. Find out what pages people like and which pages they dislike. Don't use any shady tactics that will get you into hot water like sneaky redirects, content cloaking, and so on. Even if you already have an SEO strategy in place, you need to understand how it is performing. Is the strategy meeting your objectives? Are core tactics like on-site SEO and link-building having the desired impact? How is your strategy performing when compared to your competition? A natural link profile has variety. The links come from different domains and links will have different strengths.
